We are a team of runners who annually participate in the “The Relay“; a 194 mile relay run from Calistoga, California to Davenport, California. In 2012, we had a time of 22:54 hours winning the public safety division and coming in 4th overall out of 200 teams.
The mission of the “The Relay” is to raise money and awareness of the importance of organ donation. Each year our team begins a campaign to raise money for this important cause. We run in honor of Ben Thornton. Ben received a new heart at Stanford Hospital in 2006 to cure a condition called cardiomyopathy. Although they do not know who the heart donor was, Ben’s parents, Sonoma County Deputy Sheriff Gary Thornton and Ben’s mother, Angel are so grateful to the donor family. Their tragedy created a miracle for Ben, LIFE.
