Dear Family and Friends:
On April 30 and May 1st, 2011 we will be running 200 miles from Calistoga, across the Golden Gate Bridge to Santa Cruz County, with a 12-member law enforcement team (“911 Team, We Run Code three”) supporting over 100,000 Americans waiting for organ transplants. During the Relay (www.therelay.com), the passing of our wristband to the next team member will symbolize the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient.
As always, our team will dedicate our run to honor eight-year-old Ben Thornton who received a new heart at Stanford Hospital in 2006 to cure a condition called cardiomyopathy. Although they do not know who the heart donor was, Ben’s parents, Sonoma County Deputy Sheriff Gary Thornton and his mother Angel are so grateful to the donor family. Their tragedy created a miracle for them.
We kindly ask you for donations of money, organs! or time can be accepted two different ways for Organs ‘R’ Us, 501 (c) (3) Tax ID 94-3333306, 570 El Camino Real, Suite 150-330, Redwood City, CA 94063. If writing a check to the relay please note our team name “911 Team, We Run Code Three” on your check.
We could also use non-tax deductible funds, food and water that can be mailed to 911 Team Co-Captain:
